Join our  Whisky Trail Adventure Tour 2011! An amazing journey in the world of Whisky on the famous Malt Whisky Trail in Scotland!

The annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival is arranged in Scotland from April 28th - May 2nd 2011, and we've got a reservation of 16 tickets that will give you access to exclusive adventures during our special tour. Great accomodation combined with unique visits to several distilleries, culinary experiences and of course a great deal of whisky tasting are some of the ingredients. Some of the distilleries are not even open to the public exept from during the festival.

Our guide on the tour is Chris Maile, who is of course a genuine Scotsman.

Itinerary:

Wednesday April 27th

10:45 Departure from Norway by flight 

Arrival in Edinburgh. Transfer from the Airport to Crieff by coach.

In Crieff we'll visit the oldest distillery in Scotland - formerly called Glenturret, now more known as being The Famous Grouse.

Guided tour and Cook school at The Famous Grouse, where we will make our own 3 course dinner.  

Accomodation in Crieff at 4* Knock Castle Hotel & Spa 

 

Thursday April 28th:

Stop at the Scottish Liquer Centre at Bankfoot.
Arrival in Aberlour.
Check in and relax with afternoon tea at Dowans Hotel (4*)
Change into our best clothes and get dressed for The Opening Dinner.

18:15 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Awards
Don't miss the 2011 Finals of these internationally renowned awards. Visitors to the Festival are invited to take part in the judging! The awards are being held just before the Opening Dinner. You will enjoy six magnificent malt whiskies and get to vote for the best to win from each of the three categories. This is the only Malt Whisky Competition that embraces the decisions of the consumer.
The winners will be announced at the end of the Opening Dinner.

 

19:00 Spirit of Speyside Opening Dinner
To celebrate the opening of the Festival join Visitors, whisky experts, writers and distillery personnel at a magnificent Opening Dinner on Thursday 28th April 2011. Over 300 people will gather in the atmospheric venue of one of Speyside's distilleries - which one is soon to be announced. On arrival you will be welcomed with a Spirit of Speyside Malt Cocktail.
There will be some lively traditional music from local musicians at the start and end of the dinner.
During the evening the winners of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Awards will be announced, as well as the overall winner of the photographic competition. The dinner will have a Scottish theme throughout the meal. The food is all locally sourced and will be accompanied by a complimentary dram to match each dish. All in all a very entertaining not-to-be-missed evening.
Dress Code: Smart with a hint of Tartan

12:00 - 14:00 Speyside Cooperage Tour
Exclusive to this Festival, this is a unique opportunity to experience the smells, sounds and sights with a very personal tour of the Cooperage at workshop level. View the Coopers work close up and at first hand as they build barrels to exacting standards against the 'clock'

Our experienced guides will accompany you through this truly unique and ancient craft of barrel making, with the grand finale being the firing of a cask. After the tour, visit the shop and browse our range of quality goods crafted from wood - many of which are exclusive to the Cooperage.  Then relax in our coffee shop and enjoy light snacks and refreshments which are served throughout the day with seating both inside and on the veranda overlooking the picnic area.

17:00 Visit to Glen Moray Distillery followed by Barbeque dinner

Saturday April 30th

10:00 – 13:30 Cardu Distillery, Aberlour Blend it Like...
In 1893, the Walker family valued the smooth, silky flavour of Cardhu so much they bought the distillery. Every year, hundreds of corporate visitors come to the Home of Johnnie Walker at Cardhu to learn about the brand.
Exclusively for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, we are opening the doors to the Home of Johnnie Walker. We invite you to immerse yourself in the history and heritage of Johnnie Walker, learn about the flavours that underpin these great whiskies and use that knowledge to create your own very special blend. This is a unique opportunity to create your own blended whisky in the Home of the world's No. 1 whisky, Johnnie Walker. You will also enjoy a buffet lunch in the spectacular dining room joined by the distillery manager and take home a sample of your own blended creation.

Sunday May 1nd

13:00 Keith Dufftown Railway Nosing & Tasting Special 2

Join Steve Oliver in the first class compartment for a nosing and tasting on route to Keith Town Station. Included afternoon tea in the Buffer Stop Café at Dufftown Station before you board the train to Keith, your train ticket and the tutored tasting.  Steve will select some of his favourite drams to share with you on the journey to Keith and perhaps another dram on the return trip to Dufftown.
Meet at the Buffer Stop Café at 13.00 for afternoon tea.

Monday May 2rd

10:00 – 12:00 Aberlour Distillery Tour
See the whisky-making process at first hand and sample a selection of the aged Aberlour in an exclusive tutored tasting session. This in depth tour is relaxed, informal and fascinating; and experience not to be missed. Two hours for the tour which includes: Production overview, distillery tour, Exclusive nosing and tasting in Warehouse 1, Opportunity to hand fill and purchase your own bottle of cask strength whisky and visit to Distillery shop whisky2033.jpg

Departure back to Edinburgh.

Stop for lunch (not included)
