29.april-3.mai 2010 går Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival av stabelen i Skottland, og vi har reservert 15 plasser som gir deg tilgang til eksklusive opplevelser på vår spesialtur. Vi skal bo godt, spise godt og selvsagt smake på en mengde ulike whiskyer. Vi har plukket ut noen av de beste destilleriene i Speyside hvor vi skal få opplevelser som du ikke finner ellers i året!

Flybillett må kjøpes utenom, og anbefaler dere å kjøpe bestille fly så fort som mulig for å få lavest mulig pris.

Onsdag 28.april

Avreise fra Gardermoen med Norwegians Rute DY1352 kl. 19:15.

Thursday April 29th:

Breakfast and some free time in Edinburgh before departure to Speyside.

Stop at the Scottish Liquer Centre at Bankfoot.

Change into our best clothes and getting dressed for The Opening Dinner at Benromach Distillery.

18:15 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Awards
Don't miss the 2010 Finals of these internationally renowned awards. This second and final round of judging takes place in the    Benromach Distillery in Forres and visitors to the Festival are invited to take part in the judging! The awards are being held just before the Opening Dinner. You will enjoy six magnificent malt whiskies and get to vote for the best to win from each of the three categories. This is the only Malt Whisky Competition that embraces the decisions of the consumer.
The winners will be announced at the end of the Opening Dinner.

To celebrate the opening of the Festival join Visitors, whisky experts, writers and distillery personnel at a magnificent Opening Dinner on Thursday 29th April 2009. Over 300 people will gather in the atmospheric venue of the Benromach Distillery. On arrival you will be welcomed with a Spirit of Speyside Malt Cocktail.
We are delighted to welcome Sir Robin Knox-Johnson as Guest Speaker. There will be some lively traditional music from local musicians at the start and end of the dinner.
During the evening the winners of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Awards will be announced, as well as the overall winner of the photographic competition. The final round of judging takes place just before the dinner at Benromach Distillery and visitors to the Festival are invited to take part in the judging! Don't forget to book your ticket.
The dinner will have a Scottish theme throughout the meal. The food is all locally sourced and will be accompanied by a complimentary dram to match each dish.
All in all a very entertaining not-to-be-missed evening.

Friday April 30th

10:00 – 13:00 Cragganmore - Manager's Connoisseurs Tour
Cragganmore Distillery, the Speyside representative of Diageo's 'Classic Six' nestles in the Spey Valley at Ballindalloch.  This is a unique opportunity to become truly immersed in the history behind one of the most complex and characterful speyside malts. Following the in-depth distillery tour,  you will experience a tutored nosing & tasting of 5 drams, one of which will be a super premium release, in the exclusive Cragganmore Club room. Included in the entrance fee is a £5 discount voucher which is redeemable against a 70cl bottle of single malt whisky from our well-stocked shop.


13:00 – 14:00 Quick lunch in Aberlour or at Speyside Cooperage


14:00 - 16:00 Speyside Cooperage Tour
Exclusive to this Festival, this is a unique opportunity to experience the smells, sounds and sights with a very personal tour of the Cooperage at workshop level. View the Coopers work close up and at first hand as they build barrels to exacting standards against the 'clock'

Our experienced guides will accompany you through this truly unique and ancient craft of barrel making, with the grand finale being the firing of a cask. After the tour, visit the shop and browse our range of quality goods crafted from wood - many of which are exclusive to the Cooperage.  Then relax in our coffee shop and enjoy light snacks and refreshments which are served throughout the day with seating both inside and on the veranda overlooking the picnic area.

10:00 – 13:30 Cardu Distillery, Aberlour Blend it Like...
In 1893, the Walker family valued the smooth, silky flavour of Cardhu so much they bought the distillery. Every year, hundreds of corporate visitors come to the Home of Johnnie Walker at Cardhu to learn about the brand.
Exclusively for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, we are opening the doors to the Home of Johnnie Walker. We invite you to immerse yourself in the history and heritage of Johnnie Walker, learn about the flavours that underpin these great whiskies and use that knowledge to create your own very special blend. This is a unique opportunity to create your own blended whisky in the Home of the world's No. 1 whisky, Johnnie Walker. You will also enjoy a buffet lunch in the spectacular dining room joined by the distillery manager and take home a sample of your own blended creation.

Sunday May 2nd

08:30 – 14:00 Guided Walk in Glen Avon Tomintoul
Startpoint: The Square, Dufftown
Join David Newland for one of his favourite walks in Glen Avon to the south of Tomintoul.  The bus will depart from and return to Dufftown.  The walk will start at the Queen Victoria Viewpoint and follow well-defined tracks in Glen Avon. The route will then follow the Glen Avon access road to Delnabo where David will take you for a detour to the Ailnack Gorge, one of the natural wonders of this area originating from the last Ice Age. Delnabo was the site of George Smith's original Distillery before he consolidated his distilling operations at Minmore, Glenlivet There will be time for a couple of drams along the route before you make your way to Tomintoul and the Clockhouse Restaurant for lunch. The bus will collect you from the restaurant and you will arrive back in Dufftown at 14.00.
The walk is about 7-8 kms and shouldn't be arduous.  Stout footwear is essential and suitable outdoor clothing is recommended, as there will still be snow on the hills.

 

15:00 – 17:30 Keith Dufftown Railway Nosing & Tasting Special 2
Join Steve Oliver in the first class compartment for a nosing and tasting on route to Keith Town Station. Included afternoon tea in the Buffer Stop Café at Dufftown Station before you board the train to Keith, your train ticket and the tutored tasting.  Steve will select some of his favourite drams to share with you on the journey to Keith and perhaps another dram on the return trip to Dufftown.
Meet at the Buffer Stop Café at 15.00 for afternoon tea.  The Train for Keith will depart at 15.50 arriving at Keith Town Station at 16.28.  The return trip will depart Keith Town Station at 16.40 for your return journey to Dufftown.

Monday May 3rd

10:00 – 12:00 Aberlour Distillery Tour
See the whisky-making process at first hand and sample a selection of the aged Aberlour in an exclusive tutored tasting session. This in depth tour is relaxed, informal and fascinating; and experience not to be missed. Two hours for the tour which includes: Production overview, distillery tour, Exclusive nosing and tasting in Warehouse 1, Opportunity to hand fill and purchase your own bottle of cask strength whisky and visit to Distillery shop whisky2033.jpg

Departure back to Edinburgh.
